If you are reading this then you are well aware of my admiration for the Diabetes Online Community. This week marks (hopefully the first annual) Diabetes Blog Week, an idea started by “one of our own” for people that blog daily, people that need to get back on the wagon and even the occasional blog lurker together to talk about some common topics for a week. Karen writes her own Diabetes blog at http://bittersweet-karen.blogspot.com as well as a knitting blog (http://mostlyselftaughtknitter.com) and has seen her idea gain tremendous support throughout the community. Naturally I had to have her on my podcast to talk about it.
Just Talking – Episode 30: Mostly Self Taught
The notion that a bunch of strangers can rally behind a movement or person simply because they feel like it might be foreign to some people but not to members of the Diabetes Online Community. This week Karen, of MostlySelfTaughtKnitter.com and BitterSweet fame is my guest for an hour of banter about a range of topics. The elephant in the room this week within the Diabetes Online Community is Karen’s creation: a week’s worth of blog topics for anyone willing to participate, “Diabetes Blog Week”. Support for her idea was immediate and overwhelming. I invited her on to talk about Diabetes Blog Week, knitting podcasts, how to properly pronounce “meme”, and much more. Enjoy.
