If you weren’t aware, I also host a video game podcast called Post Game Report. It lives on Talking About Games and it’s a lot of fun. Over the course of my own podcast’s life I’ve had each co-host on as a featured guest. Each co-host except for one – HeroicSuperman. This week I finally […]
Another week, another Just Talking is ready for you. I went back to the existing podcaster bullpen I have stashed away to get some input on what it takes to start a podcast and ultimately build a community. This topic seems to always have fresh perspectives available for your listening pleasure. Of course there was […]
I’m not a fan of scrambling for guests on my podcast. It shows a lack of organization on my part and I run the risk of putting my potential guests in an uncomfortable situation. Typically the relaxed nature of the show doesn’t add too much stress to the conversation, but I like knowing that things are arranged and there is at least a base level of preparation before each show. Of course, the real world doesn’t like to cooperate all the time and guests have to be rescheduled. It’s not like this podcast is the most important piece of media in the world. The earth doesn’t revolve around Just Talking. But to the point of rescheduling and scrambling, I tapped the right arm to the Talking About Games Bullpen and called up Scarfinger, a man with a record of saying whatever is on his mind. At least I know I wont be short on things to talk about this week.
The one thing that resonates with my trip to Boston is the level of geek that I experienced. I had an idea of what I was getting in to, but in reality I had no idea what I was getting in to. The only question on my mind on my train ride back home was “who would I bring on my podcast?” As a result, this week’s episode is slightly less interview-y and more of a mixture of (what is becoming) a traditional episode of Just Talking along with story time with Chris and Addam. Talking About Games Senior Editor Addam Kearney and I trade stories about the fun had at the Penny Arcade Expo. If you missed out on the opportunity to go to Boston, or Seattle, I hope this will give you the motivation you need to get out to the next event. After listening to this episode it should be clear, it’s a lot of fun.
I know this podcast isn’t anything revolutionary. I have my returning listeners and am slowly working to expand my audience along with the content I offer each week. One interesting trend I’ve noticed with each episode is a growing number of people requesting a particular guest on an upcoming podcast. Sure, compared to most of my guests, 3 or 4 people asking for a featured interview isn’t too monumental, but there has been a noticeable trend of people asking for “Phoenix”. It’s time I give into the demands of the listeners. Co-host of the Post Game Report, Marc Washington is my guest this week. You might know him as Phoenix410. If you don’t know him, you’re in for a treat and if you do know him, then prepare for a side of “The Mallet” that you have never heard before. And will likely never hear again.[audio http://media.libsyn.com/media/iamspartacus/Just_Talking-21-The_Mallet_Tour.mp3%5D
